Interoute can now deliver 10Gbps chunks of capacity to customers in just 10 days - 10 May 07
Europe’s first Rapid Delivery Bandwidth service reduces lead times by up to 200%
London, UK, 10 May 2007 – Interoute, owner of Europe’s most advanced next-generation voice and data network, today announced the launch of its new Rapid Delivery Bandwidth service, available across its Western and Central European footprint. Currently, the typical delivery time of a 10Gbps wavelength or a 10Gbps Ethernet service, across Europe, is 30 days. This can run into several months for long haul circuits. The new Rapid Delivery Bandwidth system can reduce this by up to 200%; with Interoute rolling out increased capacity in just 10 days.
Following the completion of a €22 million network expansion using Infinera’s photonic integrated circuits in January 2007, users can now take advantage of Interoute’s Next Generation network, to deploy additional bandwidth in record time. The photonic upgrade has resulted in increased reliability and the ability to add 100 Gbps of capacity to the Interoute network at a time, meaning customers can reap the benefits of shorter lead times for 10 Gbps circuits. The circuits can be presented with both optical and Ethernet interfaces
With bandwidth usage increasing rapidly – driven by the latest multimedia applications - Interoute has seen the demand for 10Gbps wavelengths increase on average by 230% every month in 2007. This surge in demand can put strains on European networks and operators need to be able to move quickly to avoid bottlenecks in their networks. Interoute’s 12,000 customers can now rely on the available capacity to service their own customer bases with network services as and when they are required..
Jim Kinsella, Chief Executive, Interoute, said: “With continuing increases in bandwidth usage from both content distributors and powerful multimedia applications, the need for greater capacity is higher than ever before. Significant investments in our network have allowed us to pioneer new delivery models in Europe, and to stay ahead of bandwidth demands.”
